Super Beans
1 can baked beans(at least 15oz) (see note below)
4 lg. cloves garlic chopped
1 large onion chopped
¼ cup Molasses (use more with kidney beans)
8 stips of bacon
¼ tsp. chili powder
½ tsp. celery seeds
3 tbls. Worcestershire sauce
In a large fry pan cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon and
set aside, keeping bacon fat. Saute onions & garlic over medium heat
in bacon fat until brown and drain off all excess fat.
Break up bacon into small pieces. Add beans with there own juice and
all other ingredients including bacon bits. Cover and simmer over low
to medium heat for 45 minutes stirring often. Serve with brown bread.
Great side dish with a nice steak or your favorite meat.
NOTE! Red Kidney beans can also be used as a substitute.
If you use Red Kidney beans drain off all liquid and add more Molasses.
